Martedì 28 Agosto 2007

police5The first European Dates of the Police Tour starting on August 29, check out what the critics said about some date of the North American tour.  If there were still someone indecisive in booking the last ticktes for the italian date, they would have the right motivation.

VANCOUVER, 27 May
"They start with ‘Message In A Bottle’, an instant thrill. They’ve been rehearsing for two months and it shows: Copeland is a powerhouse at the drum kit, while Sting and Summers ooze relaxed concentration, like sportsmen who are trying hard not to try too hard. Sting sings better than he ever did in 1978 and The Police’s sound comes through undated, perhaps because it was so quirky in the first place." - The Mail on Sunday  (more…)

The Teatro Regio is increasing and strengthening its artistic, organisational and production capacities thanks to a reverse trend on the part of the Italian government, the passion of our audiences — who continue to sell out the hall of the Regio — the partnership with local administrations for the development of specific projects, the steadfast presence of Teatro Regio Foundation Partners and the particularly lavish commitment of Compagnia di San Paolo, Fondazione CRT and Gruppo Fondiaria Sai, which, for the fourth year running is a partner in the inaugural evening.

La Scala Theater: Season 2007 - 2008

Venerdì 3 Agosto 2007

Franz Kafka was also a man with great humour. To describe his indifference to opera, he would confess to his friend Max Brod that he couldn’t find any difference between Tristan und Isolde and The Merry Widow. It is truly odd that the 2007-2008 Scala Season should open with one and end with the other. It is to Kafka’s credit.
It is one of the mysteries of music that Tristan, which marks the beginning of musical modernity, went on stage forty years before The Merry Widow, a title full of sentimental lightness. The language of music goes back and forth, transforms and renews itself, and never forgets to return to past. At first glance it seems strange that The Merry Widow is an operetta dating from the beginning of the 20th century, while the profound Tristan still completely belongs to the 19th century. There are operas that from their creation on look towards the future. Besides Tristan, there is for instance Verdi’s Macbeth, which will be showing again in 2008: modernity has a long lasting strength.
What can we say about our 2007-2008 season, framed by a serious opera and an operetta? Is it modern or traditional? Discover it together, reading the playbill:
