November Events at La Scala Theatre

Martedì 16 Ottobre 2007

If you are in Milan and you would like breathing the atmosphere of the most important italian opera house, www.findyourevents.com propose two perfoemances very interesting at La Scala Theatre.
Così fan tutte an opera buffa by W. A. Mozart: apparently, it has a misogynist and traditional plot, but in reality the work is more complex and grown: Mozart knows the limts of expactancy and illusions. This opera is certanly  actual and it will give you a subject of discussion.

Messa da Requiem by Giuseppe Verdi: although he refused to compose circumstantial music during his long carrier, on two occasions he made exceptions to this rule, planning the composition of a mass to honour the passing of two great figures of the Italian cultural scene of the time: Alessandro Manzoni and Gioacchino Rossini.

Both the packages include one night in Hotel, verify the date and the offers.

2007/2008 Great Season For Teatro Regio

Venerdì 3 Agosto 2007

Playbill 2007 7 2008Ten operas, five of which are new productions realised in co-production with important opera theatres, the arrival of Gianandrea Noseda in the new prestigious role of Musical Director, the presence of the Bolshoi Ballet of Moscow for a month, an increase of 13.5% in the number of performances and the continuation of RegioneInTour, the successful opera tour realised together with the Piedmont Region. The Teatro Regio is increasing and strengthening its artistic, organisational and production capacities thanks to a reverse trend on the part of the Italian government, the passion of our audiences — who continue to sell out the hall of the Regio — the partnership with local administrations for the development of specific projects, the steadfast presence of Teatro Regio Foundation Partners and the particularly lavish commitment of Compagnia di San Paolo, Fondazione CRT and Gruppo Fondiaria Sai, which, for the fourth year running is a partner in the inaugural evening.

Falstaff, the last immortal masterpiece of Giuseppe Verdi, will inaugurate the 2007-2008 Season on 7 October (with performances through 24/10) and will have as interpreters authentic stars like Ruggero Raimondi — the unforgettable protagonist of numerous important performances — Barbara Frittoli, Francesco Meli and Natale De Carolis. This important event will see the involvement of José Cura, who has accepted with his usual enthusiasm to tackle this new undertaking, Amarilli Nizza, Julia Gertseva and Marco Vratogna. La Scala Theater: Season 2007 - 2008

Venerdì 3 Agosto 2007

Franz Kafka was also a man with great humour. To describe his indifference to opera, he would confess to his friend Max Brod that he couldn’t find any difference between Tristan und Isolde and The Merry Widow. It is truly odd that the 2007-2008 Scala Season should open with one and end with the other. It is to Kafka’s credit.
It is one of the mysteries of music that Tristan, which marks the beginning of musical modernity, went on stage forty years before The Merry Widow, a title full of sentimental lightness. The language of music goes back and forth, transforms and renews itself, and never forgets to return to past. At first glance it seems strange that The Merry Widow is an operetta dating from the beginning of the 20th century, while the profound Tristan still completely belongs to the 19th century. There are operas that from their creation on look towards the future. Besides Tristan, there is for instance Verdi’s Macbeth, which will be showing again in 2008: modernity has a long lasting strength.
What can we say about our 2007-2008 season, framed by a serious opera and an operetta? Is it modern or traditional? Discover it together, reading the playbill:
